Dukhulal Nibaran Chandra College was established in 1967. Earlier, the college was affiliated to the University of Calcutta, and it is now under the jurisdiction of the University of Kalyani. It was in the academic session 2000–2001 that DNC College was included under the University of Kalyani, like other colleges in Murshidabad and Nadia.

The absence of a degree college as a higher educational institution in the territory of Aurangabad, where the majority of the population consists of beedi workers, was deeply felt by the functionaries of the Jangipur Mahukuma Beedi Shramik Union. A distinguished personality, Hazi Lutfal Hoque, a veteran politician and social worker, took a determined initiative to raise funds for establishing the college campus. He left no stone unturned to fulfill the vision of setting up an educational institution in Aurangabad.

The Managing Director and Director of Mrinalini Beedi Manufacturing Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. (popularly known as MBM Co.), Sri Dilip Kr. Das and Sri Anil Kr. Das, the two siblings, extended generous and significant support to fulfill the long-cherished dream of establishing the college.
