Seminar & Workshop:
1. Successfully, our department of philosophy has organized a national level
online periodic lecture on ‘Language and Logic’ sponsored by the
Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi on 30 th
and 31 st May 2021. We were very honoured to welcome the eminent
professors of renowned Universities. Our honourable speakers were
Professor Dr. Rupa Bandyopadhyay (Department of Philosophy
Jadavpur University who has enriched us with her lecture on “The
Mimāṃsā Theories of Sentence-Meaning: From A Contemporary
Perspective”), Professor Dr. Maushumi Guha (Department of
Philosophy, Jadavpur University, presented her lecture on “Mind,
language and form of life in Later Wittgenstein”), Professor Dr. Kanti
lal Das (Department of Philosophy, North Bengal University, presented
his paper on Noam Chomsky on Second Linguistic Revolution) and
Professor Dr. Smita Sirker (Centre for Philosophy, Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi, gave her thoughtful speech on Inference and
Evidentiality). It has been organized successfully by our department and
hope to arrange such programme in future.
2. Recently, a workshop has been arranged titled “Debate Like a
Naiyāika: A Seven-day State-Level Workshop on Nyāya method of
Debate” has been arranged on, 28 th September till 5 th of November. The
workshop has been planned to highlight the exclusive logical pattern of
argumentation following the Nyāya School of Philosophy. The intention
is to teach the special technique of Arguments in Indian Philosophy to the
participants at a basic level. Most of the āstikā schools of Indian
Philosophy have honoured Nyāya School of thought for its firm
systematic foundation. Mrs. Basundhara Ganguly , Assistant Professor &
Head of the Department, Philosophy, Subhash Chandra Bose Centenary
College and Mrs. Ranita Mitra, Assistant Professor, Department of
Philosophy, Jangipur College, Jangipur, Murshidabad have been edified
us to learn the Nyayāika Methodology online. More than 80% students
have been qualified at last.
Thrust Area: We are fortunate to have the opportunity to study and teach this
particular subject, Philosophy, which is the mother subject to all. With this very
spirit our department may organize lectures and workshops in our locality of
Murshidabad to rationalize and enhance the basic psychology of the local
people beyond gender, caste and religion.
